Parent/Carer Survey

We are keen to engage with our pupils’ parents and carers to ensure all views are heard. We use the OFSTED’s Parent View survey questions as a basis for our questions.

Parents and carers were last surveyed in March 2026. This follows the highly positive responses we received on ParentView during our OFSTED inspection in March 2025. The outcomes linked to the OFSTED’s ParentView can be found here.

The March 2026 outcomes revealed that:

· 98% of parents/carers who responded felt their child was safe in school

· 98% of parents/carers who responded agreed that the school makes sure pupils are well behaved

· 95% of parents/carers who responded felt their child was happy at school

· 97% would recommend the school to another parent.

Our survey allowed parents to make any further comments linked to their experience of BHA. The majority of these were highly individualised. A few of the comments which featured on multiple occasions included the following:

  • I am concerned about what my child is eating in the canteen.

Our caterers, Aspens, have great experience of working in schools. They are fully compliant with government guidance linked to healthy eating requirements. Recipes are adapted to ensure they are nutritionally balanced and lower in salt and sugar content than similar food products available in high street chains. Fruit and salads are always available at break and lunchtimes; lunchtimes offer a range of balanced meal options as well as ‘grab and go’ alternatives for pupils who want something lighter.

Pupils receive guidance on healthy eating and balanced diets through science and Food lessons in school. Parents and Carers are able to monitor and support with decision making by downloading the TillApp, which informs you what your child purchases within school. For more information, please use this link and complete our contact us form, selecting TillApp query and we can help you get started.

  • I’d prefer face-to-face parents’ evenings.

We periodically review parental preference for parents’ evenings and online evenings are invariably the overwhelming preference due to the flexibility they offer families with appointment times, travel distance and balancing other commitments.

We are seeking to update our assessment and reporting practices in the next academic year and will consult with families in due course.

  • I have concerns about the number of cars parking outside the school on zig zag yellow lines and on the pavement.

We continue to monitor parking and politely request for all car users to park sensibly and not on the zig zag lines outside the school. This is to ensure buses can enter and exit the school grounds safely and pupils have clear visibility of the road at a busy time of day for traffic in the village. In recent months, we have worked with the council to have the lines repainted and to install bollards opposite the school to prevent parking in areas immediately outside the school. The local police are also supportive and visit periodically to monitor compliance.

  • It’d like my child to experience more offsite trips/all pupils to be able to go on residentials.

We value the importance of trips and excursions as part of pupils’ personal development and wider understanding of the world. At the same time, we need to ensure, particularly with the cost of transport, that such opportunities offer value for money and costs do not put undue pressure on families. As with other schools, all residentials have to be capped at a particular number of pupils to ensure an adequate balance of staff supervision back in school and also on the trip itself. Furthermore, certain pupil numbers affect the knock-on costs of trips due to the cost of coach hire, types of accommodation available etc. We are seeking to include more local visits and fieldwork across our curriculum to benefit and involve all pupils.

We are unable to reply to all individual pieces of feedback as the survey was anonymous. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our BHA parents and carers for completing the survey and for your ongoing support. If you have any issues you would like to raise, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

To finish, we would like to share some of the many examples of fantastic feedback we had from yourselves. Thank you for your positivity, it is very much appreciated:

  • My experience of BHA has always been positive, the children are treated with dignity and respect. Children have amazing extra-curricular opportunities and learning is engaging and fun. The school pastoral team are excellent and work incredibly hard and in a proactive way to ensure the children feel safe.
  • Amazing school with amazing teachers and staff.
  • I could not be happier with BHA and how amazing the support has been.
  • BHA is the best school I could choose for my child…full of love and happiness.
  • My child has grown in confidence and more importantly her attitude and engagement with learning has totally changed since joining BHA. She loves the challenge, and is so motivated and full of energy and commitment to be the very best she can possibly be…She feels valued and cared for and has formed some lovely friendships and strong relationships with staff who she knows she can talk to if she is worried about anything.
  • Such a shame my child cannot stay at this school for the remainder of his school life! He loves it at BHA and has thrived here! Thank you.

Parentview

Parentview was introduced by the Government for parents to give their views about their child’s school.  It is a short survey that covers a range of issues important to parents.  Once there are sufficient results, the overall findings are visible although individual responses are not.

Many parents who are happy with their child’s school use Parent View to share their satisfaction or to show their support for the school.  We are drawing Parent View to your attention, because this is the way your voice will be heard by Ofsted.

If you would like to raise an issue about BHA, please don't hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your support.
