2017-2018

Use of Catch-up Funding 2017 – 2018

Maths Department

61 students (38%) did not achieve the expected standard in Maths in 2017.

Students who did not achieve the expected standard have received additional, small group, support throughout the year as part of an intervention programme.

Sessions have focused on areas identified from the analysis of the KS2 results for these students.

Of these 61 students, 58 have data available from our GL assessments to measure progress from the start of year 6 to the end of year 7. 100% of the students have made expected progress, with 26% of these students making greater than expected progress.

Out of the 61 students, 54 (89%) are now working at the expected standard based on the end of year 7 GL data completed in July 2018.

English Department

26 Students (16%) did not achieve the expected standard in English Reading in 2017. 41 students (25%) did not achieve the expected standard in English Writing in 2017.

Students who did not achieve the expected standard have taken part in one, or more, of the following projects:

  • Kindle Reading Group led by an English Specialist
  • One to One Reading with an adult in school
  • Boys’ Reading Group led by an English specialist
  • Small intervention group with a focus on reading skills

There has also been a big focus on quality first wave teaching within lessons, focusing on reading skills.

We have been able to measure progress using both GL assessments and NGRT assessments. The results of these can be seen below:

Out of the 34 students who failed to reach the expected standard in reading, 32 have data available from our GL assessments to measure progress from the start of year 6 to the end of year 7. 91% of these students have made expected progress. 9% have made greater than expected progress and 9% have not made expected progress.
