Daily Thrive Activities to do with your children - Week 16

Poetry Competition 

The Foyle Young Poets of the Year Award 2020 is now open for entries and this year will be judged by the amazing Maura Dooley and Keith Jarrett.

The competition is open to anyone aged 11-17. The deadline to enter is midnight 31 July 2020.

French – Here’s a great way to compare ways of life and culture. These videos are about young people and their lives. A great way to develop both language skills and cultural capital. Enjoy!

English – A range of ideas from performances at theatres, listening to authors reading their books, exploring the world of Shakespeare and creative ideas. (KS2) (kS3)

Digimap is currently free and you only need to put in the school postal code, plus there are some great free resources on this page too

Mathematics - (all pupils have login details) Pupils can use the videos to develop any area of maths and can answer any questions. Worksheets can also be printed out. (daily online lessons for all year groups) (Y7 & 8) All pupils have login details in planner

Here2Help Worcestershire is a website that offers additional support for families at the present time.  The link provides support on the following:

  • Food and Supplies - Unable to obtain food and supplies (including specific food and supplies)
  • Health and Medication - Help with collecting medicine and prescriptions
  • Commitments - Including childcare, pets and transport
  • Connectivity and Entertainment - Internet access; Ideas for entertaining children
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing - Social isolation and loneliness; Keeping active


On-line Safety

With increased online use, please monitor your child’s internet use.  ThinkUKnow have created useful ‘home activity pack to support parents during COVID-19 and the closure of schools.  They release these pacts fortnightly with simple 15 minute activities that you can do with your child.  The link is below:
