Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

The PTA is a group of parents and teachers who aim support the school and enhance the experience of the pupils. This involves:

Raising money to fund projects and provide equipment
Events such as the Summer and Christmas Fairs and a regular 200 Club draw have raised a substantial amount of extra money for the School. In the last few years this has been spent on:

  • Planner tokens
  • End of year event
  • Football kit
  • Art book
    Contribution towards Y7/8 showcase
  • Minibus
  • School garden
  • Story writing prizes
  • Lexi-millionaire
  • Fret saw for the DT department
  • An electric kiln for the Art Department
  • Display Boards for the Entrance Hall
  • IT Equipment
  • Benches and Tables for the Playground
  • The School Minibus
  • Year 7/8 School Performance at Evesham Arts Centre
  • Microphones for the School PA System
  • Books and Educational Items to enhance the children’s education

Parents of the PTA also help with school activities - such as helping to serve the children’s Christmas lunch, accompanying children to the school carol services, manning the tuck shop for school discos and film nights etc.

The time commitment is small The PTA meets about 4-5 times a year (certainly no more than once every half term). Each meeting lasts about an hour. Parents who cannot attend meetings but would be able to help out at school events are also very welcome.

The PTA is a friendly group – very welcoming to new members! If you can offer to help, either by joining the PTA or by assisting at events, please email or call the school office, who will pass your details on to me. If you cannot spare the time to help, please support us by joining the 200 Club.

The newest PTA funded item, the ‘Sound Field’ sound system, is now in use and made the calling of the raffle and prize winners much easier for Mr Charlton at the fair!

Thanks to the efforts of Miss Lloyd, parent Julie Allen and the artistic skills of the Year 6 children, we have a unique 2012 souvenir for you – our Olympic Tea Towel –good quality cotton, available now at a discounted price of just £1.50.

Please support us by joining the 200 club and by using the 'easyfundraising' website for online shopping. Thank you!

PTA Library Improvement Fund

Many thanks for all donations!

We have had a fantastic response to our request of help to improve the school's library books. 260 books, covering all ages & genres have been donated and a total of £360 for specific books and the general fund. Some individual donations have been entire series of books!

We have been very busy sorting, logging & placing the books into the newly refurbished library, and hope it will be up and running soon. There are still lots of books on the lists that we would like to add to the library. If you would like to make a donation or would like another copy of the list & form, please print a copy by following this link, e-mail me donnasaxton@btinternet.com or contact the school office, office@bredon.worcs.sch.uk.

Using the 'easyfundraising' website for online shopping

An Easy Way to Raise Funds for School - www.easyfundraising.org.uk

BHMS PTA have registered with www.easyfundraising .org.uk, a website which facilitates donations from large businesses to small charities. If you shop online, you can make money for the school by shopping through this website, which has links to over 2000 of the UK's best-known retailers, including Amazon, Tesco, Argos and John Lewis. It doesn't cost you a penny extra to shop, but a percentage of your purchase will be donated to a good cause of your choice.

To start shopping via the website, log on to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/bhms and sign up for "Bredon Hill Middle School PTA". Each time you shop online via the website, a percentage of your purchase (variable depending on retailer) will then be donated to the PTA, to be used for projects that will benefit the children of BHMS.

To make things even easier, your homepage can be set to www.easyfundraising.org.uk so that each time you shop a donation will be made automatically. To do this, click on 'Control Panel', 'Internet Options', 'General' and change your homepage address to the above. Click on 'Apply' for it to take effect. We will keep you updated as to money raised - this could be a very EASY and painless way of raising money for the school - a great opportunity. Friends and relatives can shop via the website too, please share this information with anyone you know who shops online.

PTA’s Second hand Uniform Scheme

The PTA are starting a new scheme, where they will be collecting any second-hand uniform that is still in good, usable condition.  The clothes will be checked and washed before being sold at various events throughout the year.  We are hoping in this way, both to raise money for the PTA/school funds, as well as offering you a cheaper alternative to buying BHMS uniform.  If you have any unwanted items of BHMS uniform hanging around at home (in good condition), please send it into the school office.  We are looking specifically for the following items:  blazers, ties and all items of PE kit.  Many thanks.
