Primary PE Funding

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6 pupils

Primary PE Funding

The Government provide additional funding of over £150 million per annum to enhance and improve primary PE and School Sport. Bredon Hill Middle School has been guaranteed funding of £8,805 for 2014/2015 and £8,765 for 2015/2016. It is statutory that I report to you how that money is being spent. At Bredon Hill, we have appointed an additional teaching assistant to support pupils in Year 6 and run additional sports clubs specifically aimed at that year group. The TA appointed will be assigned to work with small groups to enhance provision and learning during mainstream PE lessons. I also believe that the more pupils involved themselves in physical activity, the more they reap the benefits of an active lifestyle but this also impacts on a ‘sense of belonging’ to community and ultimately academic achievement. Ofsted will strengthen its coverage of the PE curriculum and ask us to justify our spending and monitor its impact.

Should you have any questions regarding this, please feel free to get in touch.

Yours sincerely

Mr S W Charlton
