Geography explores the relationship between the earth and its peoples through the study of place and environment.

It explains:

  • the location of the physical and human features of the earth and the processes which create and influence them.
  • the relationship between places and patterns of activity arising from the use people make of their physical surroundings.
  • the physical and human aspects of the environment .

In studying the subject, each pupil has a contribution to make, whatever their skills and ability. For some pupils, Key Stage 3 is the final experience of school geography and, therefore, it is important to their future understanding of the world.
In addition to reinforcing those learnt in other subjects, the teaching of geography provides new stills and enables the pupils to identify new questions and issues, to collect evidence and analyse it, and to draw conclusions.
